Harpa Concert Hall – Reykjavík, Iceland
Photographed 2016
Designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Ólafur Elíasson (facade) and acoustician Artec Consultants, Harpa is a landmark of contemporary civic architecture on Reykjavík's harbor. Completed in 2011, the 28,000 m² concert and conference center received the prestigious 2013 Mies van der Rohe European Prize for Contemporary Architecture along with recognition from Travel & Leisure, AIA, and LEAF Awards.
My images highlight Harpa’s crystalline glass “quasi-brick” facade, an interplay of geometry, reflection, and light that echoes Iceland’s basalt landscapes. These compositions explore how the jewel-like structure interacts with its maritime context and changing sky.
