Art Hotel Denver, CO — Photographed 2016
In 2016 I documented the Art Hotel Denver, a striking boutique hotel anchoring Denver’s Golden Triangle Museum District. Designed by Davis Partnership Architects and completed in June 2015, it serves as the final piece in the Denver Art Museum master plan, complementing Daniel Libeskind’s Hamilton Building and adjacent cultural landmarks.
Design Inspiration:
With a sleek, reflective facade that mirrors downtown and the Rockies, the hotel merges art and architecture. Inside, it operates partly as a gallery: the porte‑cochère features a custom Leo Villareal LED installation, and curated artworks infuse every floor and public space. The hotel’s design draws inspiration from both its museum neighbors and Colorado’s creative spirit.
Purpose & Use:
Beyond lodging, the 165-room hotel includes 50,000 ft² of office/gallery space, a ground-level art gallery (Portico Gallery), a rooftop garden, and the FIRE restaurant, all designed to engage both guests and the local art community.
Awards & Recognition:
•2016 IIDA BEST Award, Hospitality
•2016 ENR Mountain States Best Projects Award, Hospitality/Residential
•2016 Mayor’s Choice Design Award
