Wells Fargo Center Garage, Denver, CO - Photographed 2017
Located at 1700 Sherman Street, this multi-level parking structure serves the iconic Wells Fargo Center, the landmark “Cash Register Building” designed by Philip Johnson and completed in 1983. An enclosed tunnel connects the garage directly to the tower, supporting a seamless experience for building tenants.
While primarily utilitarian, the garage’s clean lines and urban integration reflect the broader master plan’s architectural sensitivity. I photographed several elevations of the structure in 2017, focusing on how its understated design complements the sculptural form of the tower above.
Though not a standalone award-winner, the garage plays a supporting role in the LEED Gold–certified and ENERGY STAR–rated performance of the larger complex. With features like EV charging, ADA accessibility, and thoughtful wayfinding, it exemplifies functional infrastructure elevated by design.
