A Quiet Bridge in Summit Sky Ranch
Summit Sky Ranch, Silverthorne, CO - Photographed July 2025
Over a slow weekend, I grabbed my Sigma fp L and spent a few minutes photographing this simple yet striking concrete-and-steel bridge in Summit Sky Ranch. What appears mundane is revealed as quietly beautiful, the clean lines, the gentle interactions of light and shadow, and that sense of solitude.
While I haven’t found built or design credits specific to this pedestrian bridge within Summit Sky Ranch, it reminded me of the Slate Creek Bridge just outside Silverthorne, a rare steel pony-truss bridge built in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Though not the same structure, it speaks to the region's quiet tradition of well-crafted infrastructure.
This image is a pause, a reminder that beauty and design often live in these simple forms, waiting for the right light, lens, and moment to reveal their subtle geometry.
