Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, West Jordan, UT — Photographed 2018
In 2018, I photographed the Saint  Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in West Jordan, Utah, during a quiet overcast day that allowed the building’s materiality to speak for itself. Designed by Sparano + Mooney Architecture and completed in 2012, the church is a study in restrained form and texture.
The structure’s cast-in-place concrete walls were board-formed on site, giving them a raw, tactile surface that evokes both permanence and humility. The muted, diffused light of the day softened the shadows while enhancing the layered grain of the concrete, emphasizing the material's hand-crafted quality.
