16th Street Residence, Boulder, CO
In 2019, I was commissioned to capture the 16th Street Residence, a modern transformation of a split-level ranch in Boulder by Bldg Collective. Designed to connect indoor living with the expansive backyard, the project was built in phases and completed in 2014, earning LEED-Homes Platinum certification for its high-performance, sustainable design.
The 10-foot-tall sliding glass doors and exterior deck blur the line between kitchen, dining, and living areas and the mature silver maple–shaded yard. Inside, the cabinetry subtly recedes into the walls, framing a floating kitchen island that anchors the space.
This project demonstrates Bldg Collective’s approach to creating clean, modern architecture that harmonizes with its site. Documenting it allowed me to highlight the seamless blend of form, function, and sustainable living that defines their residential work.
